Building Records Request

Use this form to request information on records available for properties in the City of San Diego. Note: You must have a graphical browser (i.e., Netscape or Microsoft Internet Explorer) to use this form.   • What kind of records are available? The City of San Diego maintains records of construction plans and permits on property dating back to 1955. Our phone number is (619) 446-5200. To review information dated 1955-1989, please call and schedule an appointment to visit our office located on the 2nd floor of 1222 First Avenue. For information on permits issued after 1990, you may submit an online request from this page or call us during business hours.
  • Please note: Not all types of records may be available on your property. Records procedures and legal requirements have changed over the years. If you wish to request records other than those for building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical permits, please visit our office at 1222 First Avenue.
  • Response: We will reply via email within 10 working days. Our records are stored on microfilm; should you desire a paper copy, it will be mailed to you after we receive payment. Our email reply will provide additional information regarding our services.
  • Request form: Please provide all applicable information. Note: your name, telephone number and the property address must be provided to process request. This information will only be used for the purpose of responding to your request.
