To apply online, application forms and a list of current recruitments are available under Current City Jobs.
Notification of Recruitments
If a job in which you are interested is not currently being recruited, you may choose to be notified when the job(s) become available for application. To do this online, select Job Interest Cards.
To do this by mail, send a 9”x12” self-addressed stamped envelope with proper amount of postage, write the title of the job in which you have interest on the envelope in the lower left hand corner and mail to :

Receive Application By Mail

Deadlines
Application materials must be received at the Employment Information Center NO LATER THAN 5:00 p.m. (Pacific Time) ON THE CLOSING DATE. Postmarks as proof of meeting the final filing date are not accepted. If you are applying online and do not submit your application prior to 5:00 p.m. (Pacific Time) on the closing date, your application will be rejected. If you return your application materials via the United States Postal Service, you should use “Certified Mail – Return Receipt Requested” to provide verification of timely delivery. Do not send applications via interoffice mail.
Resumes
Please do not submit a resume to the Personnel Department. Resumes will NOT be accepted in lieu of an employment application. If you are contacted for an interview, you may be asked to provide a resume to the hiring department at that time.
Approved Application
If your application is approved, you will be notified once your name has been placed on the eligible list. The eligible list will be forwarded to the hiring department. Department managers will contact and interview as many candidates from the list as needed to fill the vacancies.
Disapproved Application
If your application is not approved, you will receive a Notice of Application Review.
Status of Application
If you filled out your application online, you can view the status of your application by logging in and selecting ‘Application Status’ on the toolbar in the middle of your screen. If you did not fill out your application online or to request a review of your application, please call the Testing Section of the Personnel Department at (619) 236-6358, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
