Services

Field Engineering provides construction management, survey support, and materials testing for City of San Diego capital improvement projects.

Bridges - Provides construction management, survey support, and materials testing for all bridges. All bridges constructed by the City of San Diego as capital improvement projects or private development are inspected by the Field Engineering Division.

Land Surveying - Supports the preliminary design, right-of-way and construction for capital improvement projects.

Materials Testing Laboratory - Supports all laboratory testing of concrete, asphalt, plant testing, field testing, and laboratory testing for capital improvement projects within the public right-of-way.

Public Buildings and Parks - Provides construction management and survey support for Fire Stations, Police Stations, Libraries, Recreation Facilities, and similar capital improvement building and park projects.

Public Streets - Provides construction management, survey support, and materials testing for storm drains, sidewalks, curb and gutters, traffic signals, street lights, and vehicular, bike, and pedestrian capital improvement projects. Newly constructed public infrastructure by developers for subdivisions and permits for all private work in the public right-of-way are inspected by the Field Engineering Division.

Water and Sewer Infrastructure - Provides construction management, survey support, and materials testing for all work inclusive of the installation of new and/or replacement water and sewer pipelines for capital improvement projects.
