Peninsula Community
Water Main Replacement
Water Group Job 3013

Description

The City of San Diego is working to improve the water infrastructure and overall quality of life for residents and visitors. One way to accomplish this goal is through group jobs. Water Group Job 3013 consists of replacing some of the cast iron water main throughout the Peninsula Community Planning Board of the Point Loma area adjacent to Catalina Boulevard. The existing cast iron main was installed in 1953 and has reached the end of its service life.

Construction Information

Water Group Job 3013 consists of replacing approximately 14210 linear feet of cast iron water main. The following locations will be impacted: Concord Street, John Street, Talbot Street, Albion Street, Savory Street, Temple Street, Silver Gate Avenue, Charles Street, Jennings Street, Dupont Street, Garden Lane, Rosecroft Lane, and South San Gorgonio Street.

The project will involve open trench replacement of the existing main. The majority of the replacement will be along the same alignment as the original main. Traffic flow will be allowed during the hours of construction. At the end of each day, the entire street will be reopened to normal traffic conditions.

There may be temporary water outages while City crews make cuts or connections to the existing main. These outages will occur at night and each resident will be promptly notified prior to this work. To minimize the inconvenience during construction, residents along the alignment of the new main will be placed on a temporary highline service. A highline is a 2" above ground main that will service impacted residences while the new main is being installed.
