This project provides for widening Miramar Road to eight lanes from the Interstate 805 easterly on and off-ramps to 300 feet east of Eastgate Mall. It includes dual left-turn lanes for eastbound Miramar Road at Eastgate Mall and a right turn pocket for westbound Miramar Road at Eastgate Mall.
The needed street dedication for this project was delayed. Therefore, a portion of the improvements are now scheduled to be done in 2010. The improvements that were delayed (Phase 2) are a right turn pocket for westbound Miramar Road at Eastgate Mall and adjustments to the existing traffic signal to accommodate the proposed turn lane. All other road improvements have been constructed.
This project is consistent with the University Community Plan and is in conformance with the City's General Plan. This project is needed to improve traffic flow, and is included in the Council approved North University City Community Plan and Facilities Benefit Assessment Document per the North University City Public Facilities Financing Plan - Project 50.
Project funding was revised in Fiscal Year 2009 to reflect the most recent North University City Public Facilities Financing Plan.
Total project estimate is $7,650,000
Phase 2 estimate is $2,200,000
Phase 1 construction was completed in 2006. Phase 2 is scheduled to be constructed in FY 2010.
The project is listed in the North University City Public Facilities Financing Plan.
