Morena Boulevard Sidewalk Improvements Project

Project Background

The purpose of the project is to provide pedestrian access along the west side of Morena Boulevard by providing sidewalks where currently no sidewalks exist. This will offer pedestrians better access to existing bus stops and enhanced safety measures in this highly pedestrian trafficked area.

Project Overview

The project will provide new sidewalks along the west side of Morena Boulevard between Ashton Street and West Morena Boulevard. Construction also includes new Pedestrian Ramps and a signal modification at the intersection of Ashton Street. New streetlights to be installed will comply with City standards on spacing of streetlights in the area.

Benefits

The purpose of the project is to calm traffic, upgrade curb ramps, and provide safer travel conditions for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. In addition, the new streetlights will increase visibility and safety in the area.

Cost

The construction contract is for $198,200.

Schedule

Construction Start: April 2011
Construction Finish: August 2011
