Sewer Rehabilitation Phase J-1A

Background

Sewer Rehabilitation Phase J-1A is part of a program established by the City of San Diego and the Environmental Protection Agency mandating the rehabilitation of old and deteriorated concrete sewer mains.

Project Overview

This project includes the rehabilitation of 33,258 linear feet (6.3 miles) of sewer main occurring in the City's right of way and utilizing trenchless technology. Access to rehabilitate the sewer mains will be through the existing manholes and/or cleanouts. Other related work within would entail the connection of laterals to the rehabilitated mains, manhole rehabilitation and several external spot repairs.

Construction of this project will be operated within the public roadway. The contractor will develop, obtain City approval for, and implement traffic control drawings during construction to protect public safety within the project area(s). Also, the Contractor will be directed at all times to keep the area as clean as possible from dirt and dust.

Neighborhoods included in the project are: Rancho Peñasquitos, Point Loma, Midway, Bankers Hill/Parkwest, Downtown, Old Town, Balboa Park, North Park, Golden Hill, City Heights, Encanto, Sherman Heights, Logan Heights, Grant Hill, Memorial, Stockton, Mount Hope, Mountain View, Southcrest, Shelltown, El Cerrito Heights, Rolando, Rolando Park, Darnall, Oak Park, Webster, Miramesa, Scripps Ranch, Rancho Bernardo, Clairemont, Linda Vista, Mission Valley, Serra Mesa, College Area, Eastern Area, Del Cerro, Otay Mesa, and San Ysidro.

Construction Schedule

Construction is scheduled to start January 2010 and finish the summer of 2010.

The cost of this project is estimated at $3,676,270, which includes design, construction and inspection.
