Wenrich Drive Storm Drain Repair Project

Project Background

The existing Wenrich Drive storm drain was built in 1967 and is nearing the end of its service life. This repair effort will improve reliability, bring the storm drain system in this area up to modern standards, will help accommodate community growth, and will also reduce maintenance requirements.

Project Overview

The project will remove the existing 36-inch corrugated metal pipe (CMP) and replace it with 36-inch reinforced concrete pipe (RCP).

Work will be done along the length of Wenrich Drive, the intersection of Wenrich Drive and Lance Street, and within the existing drainage easement leading to the outfall at Navajo Canyon Open Space Park.

There should be minimal to no impacts to residents in the area. During construction on Wenrich Drive, a small portion of the street may be closed or traffic control may be needed, but access to all residences will be possible by alternative routes.

Benefits

  • Prevents erosion caused by runoff from the storm drains
  • Replaces deteriorated pipe
  • Offers long term improvement of the City's storm drain system

Cost

The construction cost for this project is estimated at $213,150.

Schedule

Construction is expected to begin early November 2010 and estimated to complete in March 2011.
