Trash, Recycling and Yard Waste Collection Routes Changed to Increase Efficiency and Improve Customer Service

New Collection Routes
- City Announced Changes in Trash/Recyclables/Green Waste Collection Service (PDF)
- Implementation of the new routes may result in changes to the time of day of collection for most residents. (ONLY residents in Liberty Station area of Point Loma will see their collection service day change from Monday to Tuesday.) Find your collection schedule, what types of City collection services are at your address, and learn the City's recognized holidays when trash, recycling and yard waste collections are delayed by one day.
- You may also see a change in Recyclables and Green Waste collection service. Please check your collection schedule for possible change in week of service.
Changes include:
- More efficient routes and changes to drivers' schedules will result in annual savings of approximately $4.4 million in taxpayer dollars.
- Eliminating 40 positions within the Collection Services Division of the City's Environmental Services Department.
- Requiring residents to have their containers placed at their curbside by 6 a.m. and placed back on their property by 6 p.m. on collection day.
- Collection service on certain holidays will be reinstated. The City will no longer observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President's Day, Cesar Chavez Day and Veteran's Day. Collection Service will continue to be delayed by one day on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
