Underground Storage Tanks Management at City Facilities
The City of San Diego's Environmental Protection Division manages the removal and replacement of storage tanks owned by the City such as the tank pictured here. Abandoned and leaking storage tanks pose a serious health risk as corroded tanks emit hazardous petroleum vapors and leak fuel into San Diego's groundwater. The City has removed and replaced about 250 buried and above ground tanks since 1987.
