Lighting Design
The building accrues substantial energy savings through
innovative lighting techniques. Electrical Engineer Pervez
Mobin estimated a net reduction of about 52% in watts per
square foot over what is allowed by the California building
code for this type of office structure. Mobin notes that, in
addition to increasing occupant comfort, the lighting design
will provide ongoing net saving for 10-20 years after the
initial installation cost is recovered in 3-5 years. Lighting
features include: T-8 fluorescent lamps, electronic dimming
ballasts, parabolic fixtures with reflectors, room occupancy
sensors, daylight sensors in perimeter rooms, work station
task lights, and solar control window film for exteriors.
