Statewide Summit for Municipal Leaders on Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation
Date of Summit: September 4, 2008
The Statewide Summit served to clarify the scope and intent of AB 32 within the broader context of climate change mitigation and adaptation. Cosponsored by the League of California Cities, San Diego Gas and Electric, The San Diego Foundation, Green Cities CA and the City of San Diego, this important statewide dialogue provided a comprehensive picture of the opportunities and responsibilities for local governments.
- Presentations offered a local government perspective on each topic, with a response by state experts;
- Written summary of the municipal response to the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) AB 32 Scoping Plan and a guide for financial and programmatic considerations as AB 32 is implemented over the next few years;
- Breakout sessions with subject-matter experts;
- Breakout sessions with subject-matter experts;
- An Executive Dialogue designed for elected officials; and
- Written summary of the San Diego Regional 2050 Study, a model for identifying local mitigation and adaptation needs.
