1957- First Fifth Alarm Fire

On September 27, 1957, a five alarm canyon fire swept through the Hillcrest area. At the time, it was the largest fire San Diego had ever seen. 19 fire companies responded to the fire, which resulted in the loss of only two homes. Seven others houses were damaged.
