How do I obtain a fire report?
All San Diego Fire-Rescue Department incident responses are summarized
in a computerized log. Anyone may obtain an incident summary for a fee
of $5.00 by calling (619) 533-4400.
Fire reports prepared by MAST investigators are available to
victims, owners, and involved insurance companies, private investigators and attorneys
for a fee of $7.00 by calling (619) 236-6815 or downloading a Fire Investigation Report. (PDF: 28K)
What should I do if I find a bomb, military munition or suspected explosive device?
Do NOT attempt to examine or move the item. If possible, station someone at a safe distance to
warn others of the presence of the item. Immediately call 9-1-1 and report what you have found.
A police officer and Explosive Device Technician will be dispatched to meet you.
How can I safely dispose of old ammunition or fireworks?
If you reside within the City of San Diego, your local fire station
will accept personal use amounts of unaltered ammunition (no larger than 50 caliber),
reloading supplies, and fireworks for disposal. If you are unsure whether it is safe
to transport the item you wish to dispose of, contact MAST at (619) 236-6815 to speak
with an explosives expert.
How do I contact a MAST investigator to provide possible information
regarding a fire or explosives incident?
Many fire and bombing crimes are solved through the use of tips received from the public.
If you believe you have information that may assist MAST with an investigation, you may call

How can I access counseling for a child who has shown a tendency toward playing
with fire?
The Burn Institute funds and staffs a Juvenile Firesetter
Intervention Program. This program is designed to identify the cause of fire
setting activity by children ages 4-14 and to provide an education opportunity regarding the
possible consequences of fire play. An appointment may be set by calling (858) 541-2277.
