The Training and Safety Division consists of:

  • A Deputy Chief who oversees the Training and Safety Division.

  • A Battalion Chief who serves as the Training and Safety Officer. This individual is responsible for day-to-day operations and long range planning of the Training and Safety Division.

  • Three Captains are assigned to specific areas of responsibility, including in-service training, driver training and facility management. Many additional duties outside of these specific areas are assigned as necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the organization. These captains also serve as Assistant Training and Safety Officers, and respond to major incidents citywide.

  • Two Firefighters are assigned to the division. One is an assistant to the facility manager, and the other is a special projects coordinator to two city departments, providing technical expertise in the areas of confined space operations and personal protective equipment usage.

  • A Captain and an Engineer are assigned to manage the Fire Academy as the need arises.
