As part of the IBA’s FY 2010 Final Budget Report and Recommendations (IBA Report No. 09-45), the IBA recommended that the City Council request the Mayor to pursue several fiscal reforms during FY 2010. The list of fiscal reforms was compiled from suggestions generated by the City Council during the budget review process. The City Council adopted this recommendation as part of its approval of the FY 2010 budget on June 8, 2009.
Based on feedback from the City Council’s Budget and Finance Committee, the FY 2010 Council Fiscal Reforms Matrix was amended, and the IBA distributed a revised matrix on July 15, 2009 in IBA Report No. 09-63.
The IBA intends to track all items on the matrix and report on a regular basis to the Budget and Finance Committee.
In IBA Report No. 09-52 (PDF: 66K), dated June 11, 2009, the IBA provided an update to the FY 2009 Policy Matrix which contains 33 items intended to provide avenues for improved financial governance or increased efficiency and effectiveness.
The IBA pursues each of these items over the course of the fiscal year, tracking the progress and reporting quarterly on the status to the Budget and Finance Committee.
The City Council approved the 2009 Legislative Calendar and FY 2010 Budget Adoption Calendar on November 10, 2008 (Resolution R-304341), which included these Key Dates for the upcoming budget development process. These Key Dates may be subject to revision following review by the Budget and Finance Committee.
