What's Next After Registration?

Attend a Tryout

If your child is a new Junior Guard, they must attend a tryout before their session begins in order to determine eligibility for the program. Please see our list of tryout dates and times. Returning Junior Guards do not need to attend a tryout.

Purchase Uniform Items

Uniforms will be available for purchase at our Junior Guard office, 1008 Santa Clara Place, San Diego 92109, in Mission Beach. For more information, including purchase dates and uniform pricing, please visit our Uniforms web page.

PLEASE NOTE: WE ONLY ACCEPT VISA OR MASTERCARD FOR UNIFORM PURCHASES.

Important Details to Remember

• All uniform items can be purchased during uniform store hours (see above). Please review our uniform policy posted on our website. All uniforms worn during class times must be San Diego Junior Lifeguard items. No exceptions.
• Ocean Swim Fins are REQUIRED every day and are available at Sport Chalet.
• Please label all equipment and uniforms with your child's name.
• Please do not come to class with expensive personal property. The Junior Lifeguard Staff is not responsible for any lost items.
• Personal wetsuits may ONLY be worn with a JG rash guard over it.
• ABSOLUTELY NO CELL PHONES allowed during class times. (Before or after class is ok.)

What to Bring to Junior Guards Each Day

• Backpack for all your child's equipment
• Ocean Swim Fins (We recommend Duck Feet, available at Sport Chalet.)
• Uniforms items such as a rash guard, surf hat, or sweatshirt
• Sunscreen (Please make sure your child applies it before coming to class.)
• Towel
• Sunglasses
• Goggles
• Sandals/Flip Flops
• Pen or Pencil
• Water Bottle and Snack
• Junior Lifeguard Manual (This will be given to students the second day of class.)
