Jay M. Goldstone has been the City of San Diego's Chief Operating Officer since July 2007 and is also currently serving as the City's Chief Financial Officer. As Chief Operating Officer, he oversees the City's daily operations and implements Mayoral and Council initiatives and policies. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Goldstone served as the City's first Chief Financial Officer. In that role he identified the magnitude of the City's financial needs, developed solutions, and implemented changes and corrective actions to guide the City on the road to financial health. Mr. Goldstone has had a successful 30-year career in municipal finance. Prior to arriving in San Diego, he spent 10 years as Director of Finance for the City of Pasadena. He serves on various Boards and Commissions and is a Commissioner on the California Debt and Advisory Commission, a member of the League of California Cities' Revenue and Taxation Policy Committee, and a former member of the California State Controller's Advisory Committee on Financial Reporting. Additionally, Jay is a Director to the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board. Jay was the first recipient of the "Award of Excellence in Public Finance" from the California Public Securities Association and was named the 2007 CFO of the Year by the San Diego Business Journal. Mr. Goldstone holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science, Economics, and Business Administration from the University of Minnesota; a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Arizona State University; and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Santa Clara University. |
