Javier Mainar is the City’s Fire Chief. As Chief, he directs a department of more than 1200 firefighters, lifeguards, paramedics, emergency medical technicians and civilian personnel with a budget just under $200 million. Mainar is a 29-year veteran of the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. Prior to becoming Chief he served three years as Assistant Chief of Support Services, overseeing logistics, fire communications, fire prevention and fiscal and administrative services. He has a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University. In addition, Chief Mainar holds numerous fire service management certificates and certifications. |
