Industrial User Permits

VIII. Public Access to Industry Data

Effluent data and information needed to identify and classify an industry is public information. Other information if marked “confidential” by the industry, must be held confidential while a legal determination is made as to whether it can be released, in accordance with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements and City of San Diego procedures. The program provides for two levels of access:

Industrial Wastewater Control Program Information Request (PDF: 16K): often used to fulfill pre-sale “due diligence” requirements for a given address. A request is faxed to the program, which in turn, conducts a database search by address and provides the names of all permittees on record, and any violations, at that address.

File Review Request (PDF: 135K): used to set an appointment to review files in person. Requests for copies can be made at the time of the review.
