Our Mission is to provide the public with a safe and efficient regional sewer system that protects our ocean water quality, supplements our limited water supply, and meets federal standards, at the lowest possible cost.

We at the City of San Diego Metropolitan Wastewater Department (MWWD) are committed to providing our community with a safe, efficient, regional sewer system. At the same time, we protect our ocean water quality, supplement our limited water supply and meet federal standards at the lowest possible cost. Through state-of-the-art facilities, water reclamation, biosolids production and cogeneration, the City is a leader in maximizing the conservation of water and energy as part of the wastewater treatment process.
