Organization Chart

The City of San Diego Metropolitan Wastewater Department (MWWD) operates the Metropolitan Sewerage System and provides new facilities for improved treatment or additional capacity. MWWD also operates the City of San Diego Municipal Sewage System. MWWD is organized into five divisions consisting of professionals in the areas of administration, engineering, construction, treatment and disposal, environmental protection, wastewater collection, and public education and outreach.

MWWD's commitment to the public includes:

  • Protecting public health
  • Safeguarding the environment
  • Assuring adequate sewerage system capacity
  • Producing reclaimed water to supplement imported water supplies
