Dear Visitor:
The Office of Ethics and Integrity (OEI) has been established to promote a strong ethical work environment for City employees. Ethical practice by employees is two-fold: one of compliance - following relevant laws, rules, regulations and policies and, secondly, one of engaging in ethical behavior in which the employee strives to embody the spirit behind the rules and to incorporate the City’s core values in his/her daily work life. Cultivating ethics in any organization is critical to first-rate leadership and high employee performance.
This website is just one of many tools designed by OEI to provide support to all City employees, unclassified and classified, in understanding and achieving the City’s ethical expectations. I invite you to explore OEI’s website and experience the wealth of ethics resources which include, not only information regarding ethics related city/state laws, regulations, policies and procedures, but also, articles and discussions concerning ethics as applied to the work place. Each month the website will offer an ethics question and an inspiring thought for readers to ponder. The website also provides downloadable handbooks, manuals and links to other ethics resources and websites maintained by other ethics related organizations.
Although the OEI website was created principally as an online reference and guidance center for City employees, we welcome and encourage members of the general public to browse through the information contained within the web site. Once you have viewed the information, I would appreciate any comments or suggestions that you think will improve our website to serve you better.
Sincerely,
Jo Anne SawyerKnoll
