A Message from the Mayor
Welcome to the City of San Diego's Office of Homeland Security's website. I am pleased to announce that the City of San Diego is taking part in a nationwide coordinated effort to encourage people to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and schools. You are invited to join this effort.
September 2007 is National Preparedness Month. The City of San Diego is joining a variety of national, state and local organizations to educate the public about preparing for emergencies. We're taking steps as an organization to become educated, trained and better prepared, and we urge you to take time this month to do the same at home and work.
Please join me on Tuesday, September 11th from 11am-2pm for the City's PREPAREDNESS MONTH kickoff event and safety fair (PDF: 81K) in downtown San Diego. Join me at Horton Square, 225 Broadway Circle, next to Horton Plaza. We will have hands on demonstrations and booths staffed by San Diego Fire-Rescue, San Diego Police Department, CERT San Diego, San Diego Blood Bank, Red Cross, County Office of Emergency Services, and many more experts.
As a reminder - disaster strikes, usually without warning. You can help your families, your neighborhood, your businesses, and our community survive a disaster by being prepared. It's easy. The information on this site will help you better prepare, plan, and stay informed. I urge everyone to take action during National Preparedness Month. Preparing makes sense. Get Prepared. Get Involved.
Thank you.
