Recreation Center Hours

Monday to Friday:
2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Sundays: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Mira Mesa Recreation Center is open on the weekends through the courtesy of the Mira Mesa Recreation Council.

Multi-purpose fields, outdoor basketball courts, picnic tables, a gazebo and a tot lot which is accessible for children and adults with disabilities all offer outdoor fun, while activity rooms and a kitchen offer cooking classes. These rooms are also available for rent. Call the center for details.

What's Coming

History of the Center

The Mira Mesa Recreation Center was dedicated in January of 1977. Ten years later on April 3, 1987 the center was named the "Gil Johnson Recreation Center" after Gilbert Johnson who served in numerous public and community capacities including City council member from 1971 - 1977 and deputy mayor in 1975. He will always be known to Mira Mesa as a man who was dedicated to responsible and effective government.

From Interstate 15 exit Mira Mesa Boulevard and travel west for approximately 2.5 miles. The center is on the corner of Mira Mesa Boulevard and New Salem Street.

The center is accessible by bus via SDMTS routes 210, 921 & 964.

Mira Mesa Recreation Council
Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month at the Lopez Ridge Recreation Center, located at 7245 Calle Cristobal.
