2014 Field Renovation Schedule
The fields at our local community parks are due for renovation this year. Allied Gardens (Peanut), Lower Lewis, Skunk Hollow and Princess Del Cerro are all set to receive renovations to the fields. Portable fencing will be erected around fields where it is required. It is imperative everyone remain off the fields until the renovation period is complete and the new grass fields are officially reopened. Each field will be thatched, leveled for safety, reseeded, top dressed and ultimately fertilized.
|Field||2014 Closure Dates|
|Princess Del Cerro||February 24 to April 26|
|Skunk Hollow||April 7 to June 7|
|Allied Gardens (Peanut)||May 5 to July 5|
|Lower Lewis Field||May 12 to July 12|
History of the Center
The Allied Gardens Recreation Center was built in 1961 as a result of strong community organization and effort. At one time the site held two large radio towers that belonged to the Marietta Broadcasting Company. When the towers were re-located, the land was leased to the City. Soon after, the land was purchased and the recreation facility was built on it.
Directions and Bus Route
From Interstate 8 take the Waring Road Exit to Greenbrier Avenue. Turn left on Greenbrier. The center is at the end of the road.
