History of the Center
The land where the center and the park are now located was once owned by the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1967, it was purchased by the City of San Diego and, with the help of many community members, the recreation center was officially opened in 1968.
Directions and Bus Route
From Interstate 5 North take the Balboa Avenue exit. Go east to Moraga Avenue. Turn left on Moraga and proceed to Moraga Court. Turn left. Moraga Court will become Avati Road and will curve to the left. The recreation center is on the right.
From Interstate 5 South exit to state Route 52. Take the Regents Road/Clairemont Mesa Boulevard exit and go south up the hill. Turn right on Moraga Avenue. Turn right on Moraga Court. Moraga Court will become Avati Road and will curve to the left. The recreation center on the right.
The recreation center is accessible by bus via SDMTS Routes 27 and 105.

The center is closed on City Holidays.
Facilities
Facilities include two softball fields, a Little Padres baseball field, a recently renovated tot lot, a dog off-leash park, a tennis court, one outdoor basketball court, a horse shoe pit and several picnic areas overlooking Mission Bay. See a map (PDF) of Clairemont Area facilities.
North Clairemont Community Recreation Group
The group represents the communities around North Clairemont and Cadman Recreation Centers. The group is looking for new members. Membership is free and open to the public. This group serves as an advisory group to the City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department and facilities. Meetings are held at 5:00 PM on the third Wednesday of each month. More information is available by calling the North Clairemont Recreation Center at (858) 581-9926.
