What's Coming

Free Spring Lunch Program

Free lunch will be offered to children 18 years and younger Monday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. starting March 30 through April 24. Free snacks will be offered from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This program is offered in partnership with the San Diego Unified School District, and received an Award of Excellence from the California Parks and Recreation Society.

Youth Soccer

Fun developmental soccer league with games played against teams from neighboring City of San Diego Recreation Centers. Players will learn the fundamentals of ball control, dribbling, headers, passing, shooting and goalkeeping.
We are accepting registrations now for boys and girls ages 8 to 16 years.
Season starts March 21 and ends June 13, 2015.
Cost is $20 for the season, with no uniform fees.

Spring Egg Hunt

The entire family is invited to this FREE event. Staff will provide free games, crafts and activities. The event will feature age appropriate egg hunts, a visit from the bunny, face painting and more.
Saturday, March 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Featured New Class - Kendama Klub

The Kendama Klub will provide an after school program filled with dynamic intervention and hand and eye coordination. Participants ages 8 to 18 years will have an outlet to enhance techniques, sequential balance, juggles and catches.
Class is Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
This class is FREE.

available during this time. Customers will not be able to view activity schedule and facility availability. No enrollments or reservations can be made during the maintenance hours.

Parks Fit

The Parks Fit San Diego Challenge is to walk/run 30 miles or swim 20 miles in 30 days between June 20th and August 20th.

Each participant receives a Parks Fit San Diego bracelet. Those who complete the challenge receive a commemorative "I Got Fit in my Park in 30 Days" T-shirt.

Then compete in the finale at NTC Park at Liberty Station on Saturday, August 22, 2015.

BookNook

The BookNook program is a "take a book, leave a book" gathering place at your favorite recreation center. Share your favorite literature and stories with others.

History of the Center

The site center was built in 1989/1990. Prior to Penn Athletic Field being there, the land was undeveloped.


Directions and Bus Route

Map this location

From Interstate 805, take the Interstate 54 East. Take the Plaza Bonita Center Way/Reo Drive exit. Turn left and proceed to Parkside, then turn right. Travel approximately one mile to the second stop sign and turn left on Dusk Drive. Go up the hill and look for the parking lot on the right hand side of the street.

The Field is accessible by bus via SDMTS routes 961 & 962.
