Swim Lessons

Registration begins June 9, 2014
$15 per session (Monday through Friday Classes/30 minutes per day)
Session I: June 23 to June 27
Session II: June 30 to July 3
Session III: July 7 to July 11
Red Cross certified City of San Diego lifeguards and swim instructors will offer the swim lessons.

Summer Lunch

June 16 to July 23, 2014
Monday through Friday
Lunch 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
Snacks 3:00 to 3:30 p.m.
BBQ special event on Wednesday, June 25 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
All children 18 years and younger can eat for FREE as part of the Summer Lunch Program Co-Sponsored by the South Bay Union School District. FREE

Organ Wise Guys

June 16 to July 23, 2014
Monday through Friday
11:00 am to 1:00 pm
This FREE program will offer nutrition instruction and guided physical activity for children ages 7 to 12 years. This program is funded by the National Recreation & Parks Society and Walmart.

Movies in the Park

Friday August 15, 2014
Movie starts at dusk.
Bring a blanket, chairs and friends to watch the “Nut Job” projected on a giant screen in the park. Enjoy a relaxing summer evening under the stars compliments of the Robert Egger South Bay Rec Council.


History of the Center

The South Bay Recreation Center Gymnasium is dedicated to the memory of Robert Egger Sr., a dairy farmer, who in 1946 donated the land upon which the park now stands, to ensure the community would have park facilities at that location. Egger died in 1978 after living in and serving the South Bay community for 58 years.

From Interstate 5, take the Coronado Avenue exit and turn west on Coronado, then left on Saturn. The facility and adjacent parking lot are on the right.

The center is accessible by bus via SDMTS routes 901 and 933/934.
