Movies in the Park

The Parks Fit San Diego Challenge is to walk or run 30 miles between June 20th and August 20th. Track your mileage and receive a free "I got fit in my park" t-shirt if you complete the 30 miles by the August 20th deadline. Then compete in the finale at NTC/Liberty station park Saturday, August 22, 2015.
The BookNook program is a "take a book, leave a book" gathering place where you can share your favorite literature and stories.
Learn to Swim Portable Pool Program
This program is conducted by the City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department. Group lessons are available for boys and girls ages 3 years and older who must be 3 feet tall and bathroom trained. The classes will be conducted Monday through Friday with varying class times depending upon registration. Each session provides participants with five 30-minute lessons.
Session I: July 14 to July 18, 2015
Session II: July 21 to July 25, 2015
Session III: July 28 to August 1, 2015
Registration: July 6 to July 31, 2015
Ages: 3 to 13+

FREE SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM
Free Summer Lunch will be offered to children 18 years and younger Monday through Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. starting July 22. Free snacks will be offered from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. This program is offered in partnership with the San Diego Unified School District, and received an Award of Excellence from the California Parks and Recreation Society.
This baseball/softball league is for all skill levels. Teams will play other Recreation Centers in the area and have a chance to qualify for the City-Wide tournament. Registration fee includes league games, banquet and trophy. Registration fee includes league games, banquet and trophy.

Teen Night includes a variety of activities and field trips for pre â€“ teens and teens ages 12 to 17 to keep them off the streets, and to get more involved with participating recreation center such as Southcrest Recreation Center. There will be cooking classes, art activities, PS3 and X-box games, special events, sport activities, video game trucks, padre games, and much more. Southcrest will be the place on Friday Nights to hang-out with friends in a safe environment. Best of all... Itâ€™s FREE!!!

Southcrest Recreation Center offers Ceramics Classes, Cooking Classes, Youth/Adult Soccer Leagues, Youth Flag-Football Leagues, Youth Basketball leagues, and Baseball Leagues as well as Recreational open gym Basketball.

History of the Center
The Southcrest Civic Club built the original building at this site, then donated it to the City of San Diego. Materials and labor were donated by local merchants, residents and labor unions. The center was dedicated in 1950.
Directions and Bus Route
From Interstate 805 take the 43rd Street exit and turn right at the traffic signal. Proceed two blocks and turn left on Newton Avenue. The center is on the left.
The center is accessible by bus via SDMTS routes 11, 955.
