Nature Camp: Outdoor Adventures

Discover the wonders of nature in your hometown as we hike the natural environment of Otay Valley Regional Park and local recreation centers. Tour Balboa Park and visit historical sites and museums. Learn to Swim Portable Pool Program
This program is conducted by the City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department. Group lessons are available for boys and girls ages 3 years and older who must be 3 feet tall and bathroom trained. The classes will be conducted Monday through Friday with varying class times depending upon registration. Each session provides participants with five 30-minute lessons.
Session I: July 20 to July 24, 2015
Session II: July 27 to July 31, 2015
Session III: August 3 to August 7, 2015
Registration: July 13 to July 17, 2015
Ages: 3 to 13+
Cost: $7.50 per session

Youth Baseball/Softball
This baseball/softball league is for all skill levels. Teams will play other Recreation Centers in the area and have a chance to qualify for the City-Wide tournament. Registration fee includes league games, banquet and trophy. Registration fee includes league games, banquet and trophy.

Come play the Xbox One with the newest titles and Kinect Gameplay. Other systems also available. Have a 'Next-Generation' game experience.

Parks Fit

The Parks Fit San Diego Challenge is to walk or run 30 miles between June 20th and August 20th. Track your mileage and receive a free "I got fit in my park" t-shirt if you complete the 30 miles by the August 20th deadline. Then compete in the finale at NTC/Liberty station park Saturday, August 22, 2015.



The BookNook program is a "take a book, leave a book" gathering place where you can share your favorite literature and stories.


History of the Center

The area now known as Willie Henderson Sports Complex was once called the Southeast Athletic Field. Willie Henderson lived in the area and was responsible for building ball fields for youth. In 1986 the site was named after him for his commitment to youth sports.

From Interstate 805 take the 43rd Street exit. Turn right, proceed to Boston Avenue and turn right. Proceed to 45th Street and turn left. 45th Street becomes a one way street where Willie Henderson Sports Complex is located (on the right).

The Sports Complex is accessible by bus via SDMTS routes 11, 955.
