Parking Zone DefinitionsNo Parking/No Stopping Zones are designated by RED curb paint, or by a posted sign. A red curb means no stopping any time. When signs are used, the prohibition is in effect on the days and times specified on the sign. Passenger Loading Zones are designated by WHITE curb paint. They allow vehicles to stop for the purpose of loading or unloading passengers. The time limit is three minutes or ten minutes in front of a hotel. Passenger loading zones are in effect 24 hours a day unless otherwise posted. Commercial Loading Zones are designated by YELLOW curb paint. They allow motor trucks and commercial vehicles to stop for 20 minutes to load or unload goods. Also, vehicles may stop for three minutes to load or unload passengers. Commercial loading zones are in effect between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Sundays and certain holidays excepted, unless otherwise posted. Disabled Persons Parking Zones are designated by BLUE curb paint and sign. They are reserved for vehicles displaying a distinguishing placard or license plate issued to disabled persons or disabled veterans by the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Disabled persons parking zones are in effect 24 hours. To report misuse of a disabled placard or license plates, call Parking Enforcement at (619) 685-1420. Short-Term Time Limit Parking Zones are designated by GREEN curb paint and/or sign. They limit parking to a time period stenciled on the curb or posted on a sign. The time limit is usually either 15 or 30 minutes. Short-term time limit parking zones are in effect 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sundays and holidays excepted, unless otherwise posted. One-Hour, Two-Hour and Three-Hour Time Limit Parking Zones are designated by signs, and are in effect 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise posted. Sundays and holidays excepted, unless otherwise posted. They are established by a resolution of the City Council and typically cover an entire block or group of blocks. Parking Meters may be present in short-term, one hour, or two hour time limit parking zones. The parking meter rate is $1.25 per hour. Nickels, dimes and quarters and pre-paid parking meter debit cards are accepted. A vehicle may not be parked in a metered parking space longer than the posted time limit. Parking meters are generally in effect 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. unless otherwise posted. Sundays and holidays excepted, unless otherwise posted. They are established by an ordinance of the City Council. |
