Our Mission
Supporting the City's commitment to delivering the highest level of service to the public, IT&C Department is responsible for assuring the availability, performance and maintenance of Citywide information and communication technologies. To achieve this goal, the Department develops strategies, initiates policies and establishes procedures for effectively:
- Disseminating information to the community by means of the City Government Cable Channel.
- Making available access to electronic information and interactive services via the internet.
- Providing the highest quality wireless communications to the City and other governmental agencies.

Web Development Division - E-Government Program
As a core service group of the Information Technology & Communications Department, the E-Government Team is responsible for maintaining the City's award-winning website as an advanced electronic information resource for the community. Providing access to valuable information and City services, the City website is annually accessed by 3,300,000 citizens and visitors.
Currently, use of the City's website is based on English language competency. The Web Development Team is eager to expand the website's valuable communications capabilities and its audience by providing all of the content in Spanish.

Communications Division
Developing technology initiatives and designing advanced wireless communications strategies are major components of the Division's commitment to functioning as the "backbone" of the
City's safety and public works communications services.
Expansion of the use of wireless technologies coupled with improvements in the timeliness and quality of transmissions enables the Division to achieve greater cost-effectiveness as it fulfills its mandated communications services responsibilities for both the City and other government
agencies in the San Diego region:
- Increase in responding to safety priorities
- Strengthening essential communications among City employees
- Enhanced management of infrastructure resources
Project Demonstration Program: $ 250,000
Communications Technology Division will closely monitor
a real-time, pilot demonstration of the wireless expansion
initiative focused on the extent of cost-savings realized,
increased responses to safety priorities and enhanced
management of infrastructure resources.
Project Roll-Out, Full Scale: $12,000,000
Expansion of wireless communications will be
implemented throughout the City's entire operational
structure.
