Parks
Bill Cleator Community Park
Bill Cleator Community Park is a 15.3-acre dedicated park on the northeast corner of Nimitz Boulevard and Famosa Boulevard. This is a heavily utilized park and improved with two ball fields and the non-profit, privately-run, Peninsula YMCA.
Cabrillo Parks (north and south)
These parks total approximately 0.4 acres, and are located between Canon and Leroy Streets. These are passively developed parks and have not been dedicated.
Cabrillo Recreation Center
Cabrillo Recreation Center consists of 2.9 acres leased from the school district. This park is improved with lighted ball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, a physical fitness area and a small recreation building.
Collier Park
Collier Park consists of approximately 6.7 dedicated acres on both sides of Nimitz Boulevard. This park includes a cildren's play area and the Point Loma Native Plant Reserve.
Dana Center
A joint use agreement between the City and the San Diego Unified School District authorizes 5.5 acres at the Dana School site to be used for park purposes. Facilities include 2 ball fields, a restroom and provision for a tiny tot play area.
NTC Park
This approximately 49.1-acre designated park is along the channel at the former NTC facility and are planned for development as a regional park. Planned facilities include 2 multi-purpose fields, an aquatic center, plaza for special events, open turf, picnic areas, walking paths, and a small craft launch area.
Plumosa Park
Plumosa Park is a 1.4-acre passive park located on the east side of Chatsworth. This park was acquired by subdivision and is not dedicated since it is not owned in fee.
Point Loma Community Park
This is a 10-acre dedicated park located just outside of the Coastal Zone, between Catalina Blvd. and Canon St. Point Loma Community Park provides ball fields and tennis courts for active use.
Shelter Island
Administered by the San Diego Port Authority, Shelter Island is located on San Diego Bay. It features traills, a beach, boat launching area, fishing pier, restrooms, picnic tables and a tiny tot play area.
Sunset Cliffs Natural Park
Sunset Cliffs Natural Park is a dedicated, regional, resource-based park located along the Pacific Ocean between Adair Street on the north and the Navy property on the south. This unique 68-acre coastal resource features dramatic cliff formations, pocket beaches, tidepools, reefs, native vegetation, coastal trails and expansive ocean views. The 50-acre hillside section has been designated a Multiple Habitiat Preservation area. A master plan which focuses on restoraton and preservation is currently proceeding through the City's approval process.
