Bicycle PlanningImproving mobility options and safety through the enhancement of the bicycle environment. Details:The City of San Diego is committed to supporting bicycling as a form of mobility and recreation. As part of the City's long-term vision contained in the General Plan, the City supports the planning and development of bicycle-friendly development projects, streets, and neighborhoods for both commuter and recreational riders. To this end, the City has adopted a Citywide Bicycle Master Plan. The Bicycle Master Plan serves as a policy document to guide the development and maintenance of bicycle facilities throughout the City. The policies in the Bicycle Master Plan address all issues related to San Diego's bikeways such as planning, community involvement, utilization of existing resources, facility design, safety and education, funding and more. Status:The City annually applies for and receives grant funding to design and construct bicycle facility improvements throughout the City. More Information:
Bicycle Master Plan UpdateThe City of San Diego Bicycle Master Plan Update will seek to produce a renewed bicycle plan for the city and continue providing a framework for making cycling a more practical and convenient transportation option for a wide variety of San Diegans with different riding purposes and skill-levels. The plan update will involve evaluating and building on the existing Bicycle Master Plan so that it reflects changes in bicycle user needs and changes to the City’s bicycle network and overall infrastructure. Take our bicycle user survey and distribute the link to interested friends and colleagues. If you have any questions, please contact us: sammi@sandiego.gov or sryan@altaplanning.com Public InvolvementYour participation is essential to helping us develop the best possible Bicycle Master Plan for the City of San Diego.
