Women in the SDPD
The need for females in law enforcement has existed as long as policing has
been around. Women in the SDPD play an intricate role in policing, and are
highly valued officers. They possess strong mental and physical attributes that
make them invaluable team players at the SDPD. Many male officers have found
through experience that there were cases where it would have been advantageous
to have a female officer involved.
There are many career opportunities for
women in the SDPD. The SDPD recognizes, utilizes, and respects the diversity of
their employees.
Throughout history women have broken barriers in law
enforcement, and are continuing to break barriers today. These milestones have
been the driving force allowing both men and women to work side by side in the
criminal justice community.
