Applications Now Available for Funding from
City of San Diego CDBG and Social Services Programs

SAN DIEGO - Applications are now available for both Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Social Services funding for fiscal year 2003. Each year, the City receives grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Department (HUD) to provide services and public infrastructure projects that benefit low and moderate income residents. The City makes available a portion of the funds to nonprofit and other eligible organizations for services and projects.

To answer questions about eligible projects and program requirements for the Social Services funds, the City's Community and Economic Development Department will hold five technical assistance workshops from Jan. 7-11.

Completed applications are due for Social Services funding by noon on Jan. 31, 2002, and CDBG by noon on Feb. 4, 2002. Applications and supporting documents for both the Social Services and Community Development Block Grant programs are now available on the City's web site at www.sandiego.gov. Applicants may also call the Community and Economic Development Department at (619) 236-5990 for more information and workshop details.

With an emphasis on the City's urban core neighborhoods and low and moderate income residents, the Community and Economic Development Department strives to improve the quality of life and ensure a healthy economy in San Diego through job development, business development, neighborhood revitalization, public improvements, redevelopment, social services, and revenue enhancement.
