City's Cable Access Channel Now Available on Channel 24 Throughout San Diego SAN DIEGO - The City's cable access television channel is now City Access 24. The new name reflects a channel realignment so that the station's programming can now be seen on Channel 24 on both Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications within the City limits. Previously, the station was seen on Cox Communications Channel 17. "This change will provide better recognition of the channel and help raise the identity of City Access 24 programming," said Marc Jaffe, the manager of the City's Cable Television Program. The award-winning program produces original news and documentary shows, live coverage of City Council meetings and other events, public service announcements, and other programming. Some of the regular programming includes current events talk show "Inside San Diego," the news magazine program "Cityscape," and the "Classic Arts Showcase." The channel's weekly schedule (PDF: 30K) is available on the City's web site (www.sandiego.gov) by choosing "Services" and clicking on "Cable Television, City Access Channel." City Access 24 has received several major awards including being recognized for Excellence in Government Programming in both 2000 and 2001 by the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors. |
