SAN DIEGO - San Diego has been named the best place in America for business and careers in a Forbes Magazine/Milken Institute study. In the rankings San Diego was said to have "the most diversified high-tech economy in the U.S., with hundreds of biotech, communication, software and information technology outfits."

The ranking measures 200 large metro areas and 96 smaller ones using data primarily from the federal government. San Diego ranked eighth in last year’s survey.

San Diego was ranked first in the number of technology business clusters. It was also among the top 20 metropolitan areas for five-year job growth, five-year high-tech gross domestic product growth, and job momentum.
