to allow employees to participate in a voluntary, unpaid, work-furlough
program. Public safety operations such as fire suppression, lifeguard
services, and police patrol services will be fully staffed on both days;
police investigative services will operate with reduced staffs both days.
The City Clerk's Office will be open Friday, but the City Treasurer's
cashiering and business tax services will be closed. Water bill payments
can be made at the Water Department, 600 B St., 11th floor, or at various
independent payment centers throughout the City. For locations of these
centers, call (619) 515-3500. Community Service Centers will be closed
Thursday and Friday.
Refuse and recycling collection normally scheduled for Thursday and Friday
will be made a day later. The City's Miramar Landfill will be closed
on Thanksgiving and open Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
City recreation centers will be closed Thanksgiving Day but open Friday.
For recreation center hours, call the individual centers listed in the
SBC Pacific Bell White Pages government listings. Torrey Pines, Balboa
and Mission Bay municipal golf courses will be open Thanksgiving Day and
Friday. For information about the operating hours of the City's lakes,
call (619) 465-3474.
City libraries will close at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 26, except Mission
Valley, which will close at 6 p.m. All libraries will be closed Thanksgiving
Day. From Friday, Nov. 28 through Sunday, Nov. 30, the following libraries
will be open during normal hours: Central, North Park, Otay Mesa, Pacific
Beach/Taylor, Rancho Bernardo, San Carlos, and Valencia Park/Malcolm X.
Mission Valley will also be open Friday but will close at 6 p.m., and
will be open its regular hours on Sunday. Rancho Peñasquitos will
be open Friday and Saturday, but closed Sunday. All other branches will
be closed Nov. 28-30. Book drops will remain open for patrons. For information
on the hours and days of operation for all City libraries, call (619)
236-5800.
Parking meter restrictions will not be enforced Thanksgiving Day, but
enforcement will resume on Friday. Parking Management offices will be
open Friday and staffed for in-person parking citation payments and processing
of impounded vehicle matters.
The City's Development Services Department will be closed Friday.
Customers anticipating a need for construction plan review or permits
or a review of a property's construction records or zoning from
Nov. 28 - Dec. 1 are urged to complete the process before Nov. 28. Applicants
can still obtain no-plan permits online (www.sandiego.gov).
Offices open Friday may be operating with reduced staffing, and citizens
are encouraged to contact offices before the holiday to transact business
or inquire if specific services will be available.
