Free Child Safety Seat Inspections Available
City Partners with Safe Kids Coalition to Offer Inspections to Increase Safety of Children
SAN DIEGO - The City of San Diego, in collaboration with Safe Kids Coalition, will be offering free Child Safety Seat Checkups at the Clairemont Community Service Center on Friday, February 4 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
At the inspections, a team of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration trained child passenger safety technicians will inspect child safety seats in vehicles to ensure correct installation. Participants are encouraged to bring safety seat instruction booklets and vehicle owner's manuals to the checkup.
While most parents think they are using their car seat correctly, trained technicians usually find an average of three to five mistakes per seat that could possibly endanger children. Child Safety Seat Checkups give parents an opportunity to receive instruction on how their children can get the best protection in vehicles.
The event will be held in the City's Community Service Center parking lot at 4731 Clairemont Drive in the Clairemont Town Square Shopping Center. Participants are advised to make an appointment and arrive early to the public checkup event. For more information on this free event, contact the Clairement Community Service Center at (858) 581-4111. For general information on the Safe Kids Coalition, call (858) 576-1700 ext. 5704 or visit their Web site at http://www.chsd.org/.
