Parent-Teacher Involvement

At a minimum, meet with your child's homeroom teacher. By consulting with your child's teacher, you'll learn about the things that you can do at home to reinforce your child's learning experiences at school.

You might also consider volunteering at your child's school. This is a great way to participate in your child's education and to make connections with other parents, who can be an invaluable source of support and information. If your child is not comfortable with you helping out in his or her classroom, you can always help out in another classroom.

Finally, think about joining your local Parent Teachers Association (PTA). You will find that there is an active PTA associated with just about every public school in San Diego County. Your child's school should be able to give you the contact information, but you can also find your school's PTA through the National PTA Web site (see below).
