Computers

Your children may come into contact with computers in their individual classrooms, a computer center in their school, in their school library, or in their neighborhood public library.

Select a question below to learn more about computers. Use the navigation to the left to learn about other technologies.

Are all computers the same?

The short answer? No!
Your children are most likely to use one of two types of computers: an Apple (or Macintosh) computer; or a Personal Computer (PC). Both of these types of machines are microcomputers.
Apple (Macintosh) computers are made only by Apple Computer, Inc.

Personal Computers are manufactured by a number of companies. Most of the personal computers work in a similar fashion by using an operating system called Windows.
