What are the City's plans for the De Anza Harbor Resort property?

The City's first priority is to return the property to a use consistent with public park land as required by the State of California's grant to the City in 1945 and the City of San Diego's Charter. Thereafter, the City intends to initiate a planning process for the De Anza Special Study area, as identified in the 1994 Mission Bay Master Plan Update.

Is De Anza Harbor Resort located on parkland?

Yes. The property is located on public parkland dedicated to park and recreational use pursuant to Section 55 of the City Charter.

What type of uses would be consistent with public parkland?

Uses consistent with public parkland would be park and recreational uses including golf courses, camping facilities, transient uses such as RV parks and hotels, visitor or nature centers, or recreational playing fields, to name a few.

When does the lease for De Anza Harbor Resort end?

The City's ground lease with De Anza Harbor Resort & Golf, LLC expires on November 23, 2003. The state legislation authorizing residential use on the property (Kapiloff Bill) also expires on November 23, 2003.

Is the City going to extend the lease with De Anza Harbor Resort?

No, the City does not have a new agreement with De Anza Harbor Resort & Golf, LLC for the De Anza Harbor Resort.

Is the State going to adopt new legislation to continue to authorize a mobile home park at De Anza?

Currently, there are no bills before the state legislature regarding De Anza Harbor Resort.

Will the residents be responsible for moving their units?

The owner of the mobilehome is ultimately responsible for removing the home at the end of the lease. The City is working to develop a plan to assist homeowners in the removal or demolition and disposal of the homes.

What is happening with the Mission Bay Golf Course?

The lease between the City and De Anza Harbor Resort & Golf, LLC for the Mission Bay Golf Course has expired and the City anticipates taking over operation of the golf course on October 17, 2003. The City's Park and Recreation Department, Golf Operations Division, will operate the course.
