Non-Agenda Comment This portion of the agenda provides an opportunity for members of the public to address the Redistricting Commission on items of interest within the jurisdiction of the Commission. Comments are limited to no more than two minutes per speaker. Submit requests to speak to the Commission's Operations Director prior to 4:00 p.m. Pursuant to the Ralph M. Brown Act, no discussion or action, other than a referral, shall be taken by the Redistricting Commission on any issue brought forth under "Non-Agenda Comment".

ACTION ITEMS
Item 5.	Director's Report Staff will provide a report on the status of operational issues including the Maptitude software demonstration, siting future Commission meetings and public hearings, and an update on staffing issues. Discussion and possible action related to direction to staff.
Item 6.	Hunt v. Cromartie Deputy City Attorney Lisa Foster will discuss the recent Supreme Court case related to a North Carolina redistricting decision and the issue of whether the redistricting plan was motivated predominantly by race. Hunt v. Cromartie was decided on April 18, 2001.
Item 7.	Presentation by Cain and Mac Donald The Consultant will respond to questions raised by Commissioners at the meeting of May 23, 2001 concerning the data needed or desired to begin considering redistricting map options. Schedule(s) of Population by Census Tract and Council District will be presented by staff. Discussion and possible action related to compiling data or drawing maps.
