Division of Information and Application Services
Civil Engineering Student Volunteer. Work with customers and issue engineering permits for
curbs, gutters, sidewalks, etc. Qualifications: Able to read/ interpret civil engineering drawings.
Time Commitment: 1+ days/week; 4 hours/ day.
Computer Data Entry Volunteer. Enter engineering permit information and
other data on computer data base. Qualifications: Computer literate and/or able to type 30 words per minute.
Time Commitment: 1+ days/week; 4 hours/day.
Drawing Delivery Volunteer. Deliver blueprints and other drawings to other City departments.
Qualifications: Good physical condition; able to bend and lift up to 60 pounds. Time
Commitment: 1+ days/week; 4 hours/day.
Volunteer Teacher/Trainer. Provide training for staff, volunteer and interns on course materials
provided by the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO). Qualifications: Must be
certified as a Community College Instructor. Prior teaching experience required. Time
Commitment: 1+ days/week; 4 hours/day.
