Administration

Library Volunteer. Help organize and maintain Department's Environmental Library, used by both staff and public. Assist library staff in processing materials, circulating books, shelving library materials, preparing lists, and providing user assistance for public computer resources. Qualifications: Good organizational skills; attention to detail; ability to arrange items in alphabetical, chronological, and numerical order; working knowledge of computers and word processing, ability to work independently. Time Commitment: mornings only, days and hours vary.

Master Composter Volunteer. Assist Department in developing successful Backyard Composting Program, including demonstration sites, distribution of compost bins and public education. Qualifications: Attending or completed Master Composter Certification Classes; good communication skills; works independently; familiar with word processing and database management. Time Commitment: days and hours vary; 3+ months.

Refuse Disposal Division

Revegetation Volunteer. Assist Miramar Landfill Native Plant Nursery staff in propagation and outplanting of native plant species and removal of exotics. Qualifications: Minimum of 16 years of age unless accompanied by an adult; good physical condition; enjoys working outdoors and in a team. Time Commitment: 1 day; 3 hour shift.
