Miramar Water Treatment Upgrade and Expansion Project
Since the start of the project, the City of San Diego Water Department has been working with the community of Scripps Ranch to make sure the vital upgrades and improvements needed at the Miramar Water Treatment Plant occur with as little impact to the community as possible. The City of San Diego Water Department has continued to communicate with residents and stakeholders to address concerns, while maintaining project needs and fiscal responsibility.
Our nine-member Community Advisory Group has representatives from the
following Scripps Ranch organizations, appointed by those organizations:
- Scripps Ranch Civic Association
- Scripps Ranch Planning Group
- Miramar Ranch North Planning Group
- Friends of the Scripps Ranch Library
- Scripps Villages Homeowners Association
- Nob Hill Homeowners Association
- The Promontory Homeowners Association
- Scripps Ranch High School
- Miramar Ranch Elementary School
The Advisory Group began meeting in fall 1999. Meetings were held twice a month at the beginning of the project throughout the conceptual development stage. After the initial project impacts were defined, and preliminary pipeline and water treatment plant process locations established, meetings were reduced to one per month. Updates of the project progress were presented monthly during the first six months of 2000, with quarterly updates thereafter.
Project updates will be available to the community through the life of the project, from final design through the construction stage of each project phase.
