Eligibility
Participating schools including home-schools must be located within the City of San Diego. Entries will be accepted from 1st through 6th grade public and private school teachers only.
Posters will not be returned and will remain the property of the City of San Diego.
Guidelines for Teachers
- Talk to your students about where our water comes from, our limited supply, why it is important to conserve water and simple ways they can reduce the amount of water we use every day.
- Encourage your students to draw a poster that makes one important point about water conservation.
- Students should use large lettering and only a few words. Strong colors and heavy lines show up the best.
Rules
- All posters must be drawn horizontally (landscape) on 11x14 white poster size paper.
- Students may use crayon, watercolor, poster paint, markers, ink, cut paper, tissue paper and fabric. Please do not use materials that may smear, crack, or chip.
- Students must work on posters individually; collaborated work (a poster created by two or more students) will be disqualified.
- Only original artwork will be accepted. Reproduction of popular cartoon characters or three-dimensional work will not be accepted.
- Submit three posters to represent your class, combination classes may submit three posters per grade level.
- Make sure you attach the student entry form with tape to the back of each poster.
- Paper clip posters along with the class entry form and package them so that they remain flat.
