Water Conservation Poster Contest - Contest Theme
This year's theme is "San Diegans Waste No Water." Saving water is more important than ever. Did you know that a leaky faucet could waste 100 gallons of water a day? Did you know the purple sprinkler heads at some city parks are for recycled water? Can you think of more ways to save or recycle water?
Some examples might be: Beautify your home with native plants that require less water; check your indoor water-using appliances for leaks; and make sure your parents clean the car at a carwash that reuses its water.
Other ideas include taking video tours of the Water Purification Demonstration Project, North City and South Bay Water Reclamation Plants to learn more about what the City of San Diego is doing to expand local water supply sources. Visit PureWaterSD.org and www.sandiego.gov/mwwd/facilities/ to take a tour.
Then, encourage your students to draw a poster that illustrates one important point based on this year's theme, “San Diegans Waste No Water.” Students are encouraged to use large lettering, few words, heavy lines and strong colors.
